I completely agree with Megyn on this one. Casey should not have been suspended. I’ve been wondering since I viewed this video, why have there been no consequences for the bully’s friends who were just standing there, ready to step in? and what of the videographer? The bully’s mom was complaining about the video being all over the web, she should be blaming her own son’s friends for posting it! The whole thing is a mess. Victims are expected to stand there and take it, turn the other cheek while bullies pummel them. It’s a sick world.

Amy the bloke who videoed the fight was also suspended. I agree that Casey shouldnt of been suspended and listening to the 2 people talking about it unfortunately Americian law doesnt work here as if Casey takes it to court he can also be charged for assault which it totally wrong our legal system doesnt protect the innocent its beyond a joke. Casey did the right thing in my book he flattend a bully who wont annoy him again.

I can see the point of the guy on the left that some kids may be seriously injured when people fight back against bullies. However, his analysis is flawed in a couple of ways. First, school policies often assume that we dont necessarily have full information about what was going on. In this case we have videotape evidence of everything that was happening and there is no question Casey was being physically assaulted and that he was just defending himself. Also, the school doesn’t necessarily have to “approve” of people defending themselves. They just need to respond appropriately. The school policy still can be that you should “turn the other cheek”. They don’t have to officially condone fighting back. But at the same time, they don’t have to actively punish someone like Casey when it is clear he was just defending himself. They don’t need to announce a policy saying that the school endorses fighting back. But they also don’t need to go out of their way to punish Casey for defending himself. They can just say, according to the evidence we have in this case, we do not see that it is necessary to punish Casey at this time, at leave it at that.

It was totally irresponsible of casey to body slam the kid with such force. Australia is quite close to Japan, and a slam like that could very well cause another tsunami, for shame casey, think of the japanese people before unleashing your fury.

One item not mentioned is that the teacher was already there watching this. She stood there and did nothing.
So the suggestion that a bully should tell a teacher gets thrown out the window. The teacher stood there and did nothing WHILE it was happening.
    Score 1 for Casey.
Score 0 for the little brat that couldn’t even judge his (self-chosen) opponent’s weight.
Score -1 for the brat’s mother.

Score 0 for the little brat that couldn’t even judge his (self-chosen) opponent’s weight.
Score -1 for the brat’s father.

He comes from a single parent family, where the father is the principle guardian.

Score -99 for the school policy that is NOT working and turning a blind eye to bullying. A swat to the back of the head is an assault and should be an automatic suspension. Don’t tell me the teachers did not know this was going on.

In a perfect world Casey would have been supported, the school administrators would have given a clear message to students that bullying in all forms is unacceptable. I am sure Casey’s tormentors used verbal as well as physical forms of assault. All of us went through the school system and know that the teachers taught them first which students were not worthy. Sit in a classroom and watch and listen to how teachers speak to and treat students who are underpriveleged, have learning disabilites, are average or less than average attractiveness, or suffer from behaviour problems. The students take their cues from the adults in their lives. The teachers are the adults in our childrens lives for 6 hours a day, five days a week, 10 months a year. Really which adult do you think has the influence and set the examples? Deal with the teachers and administrators and teach them how not to set these young ones to be targets. Then deal with the bullies. And for Gods sake when a student or parents brings the concern to you do not downplay it. Suspension starts at name calling, expulsion when it happens a 2nd time. Please don’t forget to discipline teachers who by actions, attitudes and words set these students up to be viewed as less than respected and do not deserve to be treated as valuable humans. It always starts with the adults!

    Hello Casey,

Good job! Me myself have been bullied in my jonger days for some time (was a giant to, biggest of the class), and when I went on judo and karate, I had no agression anymore. At a certain time, when I new I was strong enough, I invited the bullies to attack me again, with a large croud of people around me. They didn’t, and I wasn’t bullied anymore. I think your a hero!!

    Best regards, Fred (the Netherlands)

It takes a lot of courage to do what you did. I faced a similar situation while in Elementary school and beat the crap out of the guy.

One piece of advice…. next time toss him like you did and then crush his head with your foot.

Get Casey out of that bogan school. Clearly they have these BS policies and don’t care about protecting their own students. What else is Casey to do when the assault was because Casey had told a teacher he was being harrassed? The little shit finds out and goes out looking for him to teach him a lesson.

Will the guy on the left PLEASE STOP TALKING TURD!!! Should have turned the other cheek?? WHat the HELL is wrong with him. In Australia, there’s a campaign called One Punch Can Kill. If the cops are allowed to pull the trigger, killing a person when they fell remoltely endanger, why can’t Casey slam a the kid. Casey was backed against a wall. If he had walked away, this video would have been posted on the internet and his life would have gone down the drain. After standing up for himself, the exact opposite happens. He is now a hero.

I tell you what, this is not a case of commiting violence to the bully. It is a case of self defense. I mean come on, if you are going to say that violence solves nothing or is NEVER justified, then I would like to know what the right thing to do if you were walking in the forest and you see some kid getting accosted or being beaten bloody! Then the kid picks up a rock and hits the assailant with it and runs. Should the bad buy have to right to sue the kid or his parents for not standing still and let him do what he wants to do? This makes me sick. So in other words, if they kid defended his very life, then he is guilty END OF STORY. Ya! Right!!! People do not use their brains and they logic is all screwed up. BOTTOM LINE, YOU CANNOT DEFEND YOURSELF BECAUSE THERE WILL BE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. What a screwed up world.

    Here’s one for “School-Yard Justice”!
Where was the school’s “security” and teachers during this?
This was clearly a set-up with filming going on!
Casey clearly showed restraint after taking hits but, if I was backed into a wall, like this little punk did to him, I would have plastered him after the very first hit!
I assure you that this little punk will now think twice before he tries this again!
    Good for you Casey!
100% Support for you and your actions!
Expel the the little punk. I wouldn’t allow him back in my school.
    Suspend the laughing girls.
Suspend the jerk behind the camera.
Suspend the other “actors” clearly setting this thing up!
    No action against Casey.
Do this and you watch the “bullies” magically vanish!

My heart goes out to Casey for the torment he must have had to endure before he could take no more and lash out as he did.
You did a very brave thing to stand up to that nasty piece of work, I think you acted out of instinct and used your size as your best chance of walking away without being badly injured. He did not intend to inflict serious injury , if he had he would have followed his actions through and really hurt this kid, but being the nice kid he is, he simply walked away.
I doubt if that kid will do that again to anyone bigger than him but I have a nasty feeling he will feel the need to reinstate his street cred by picking on younger, smaller, more timid, or God forbid a child with a disability.
Please all out there keep an eye on this child I bet he hasn’t stopped being a bully just because Casey fought back. His mean streak is what defines this cruel child’s identity, its WHO he is. I bet a pound to a penny he will revert to type his kind always do unfortunately. Id hate to be a pet in his household!!

If a bully gets seriously injured or killed then it is the bullies own fault, the bully brought it on himself and deserves what ever he gets that happens to him, that is the risk the bully should take into account when his trying to act all tough but is really being a coward and not tough at all, and NO form of punishment should ever be given to the one defending themselves against the bully no matter what happens even if the bully gets killed. As soon as a bully raises his fist or invades your space in a threatening manner it IS a THREAT ON YOUR LIFE. ONE PUNCH CAN KILL!!!!!!!!!!. I would have much rathered see the bully paralized or killed then to see Casey punched in the head!!!!!!!!!. Well done Casey you did the right thing and the only thing that works, you are an ABSOLUTE CHAMPION and i hope you enjoy your freedom for the first time in years, YOU DESERVE IT. Bullies can NOT be talked to. You cant just say please dont punch me, lets discuss this and let me walk away and please dont bully me anymore in the future. It doesnt work like that, how would that make the bully think he looks tough?. The ONLY way that works is the way Casey did it. And Casey i would absolutely like to call you a friend. All the best for you in the future.

They had to find someone to take the school’s position, but WOW is that hard to listen to. Casey literally had no other option. If he walked away he would’ve gotten hit in the back of the head. Or kicked in the back of his legs and tripped. Then what? Is he supposed to lie in the fetal position until the bullies are satisfied they’ve hurt him enough? I don’t care if that kid broke his nose, he absolutely had it coming, I would hope that any child in a similarly extreme position would have the courage to defend themselves and not have to face any repercussions from the school.

Lets go back to the 70s and 80′s – bring the cane in and sort the bullyers out!Trust me the bullying rate will stop!

This video and its viral nature has caused a storm and I hope that it doesn’t ruin these kids lives.

Casey had every right to go to school and be treated with basic human respect, something that obviously wasn’t happening. If you watch the videos you see he has had a rough time, with him even contemplating suicide. No one has the right to make a human feel like that. The video of him being bullied to me is self defense. Casey did what he had to do and he walked away. There is mention above of a teacher – I don’t recall there being a teacher in the video – maybe an older female student, but not a teacher (could be wrong). What is worse, is that the video was made to humiliate Casey even more, what was he suppose to do?

The guest on Fox News is now claiming the school can hypothetically be sued if victims physically react to bullies. I question that, maybe the school should be sued for turning the other cheek and allowing a child to be bullied for so long so much so that he contemplates suicide? . If you watch the ACA video (12 minutes long I think) in which Casey is interviewed, other people near the school have mentioned violence within the school. One person claiming up to 20 people gather outside her house to attack her brother. How did it get to that point? Maybe the school and hence the parents should be questioned as to how that was allowed to happen. This matter is complex, and I think the case of Casey highlights the reality of the goings on in his school and probably every other.

I am glad Casey has received some self esteem, it’s about time (you make the most of it Casey – and don’t ever lose it). Now maybe people will listen and see the reality he has had to endure, and probably what other students at his school have had to endure. As for the other child, I hope that he is able to survive the onslaught of what the world wide web has given him, I don’t agree with what the bully did to Casey, and I don’t agree with the violence and suffering Casey has had to endure, but for the other kid (Richard?), making it a public shaming could have repercussions, remember he is a child as well (BUT BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY: THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CASEY).

Go Casey – stand strong, me thinks I see a bit of Luke Skywalker in you – maybe the force? Don’t ever lose it (or even better, an amazing lawyer!).

While it is not fair that Casey was suspended, it might have been a good idea. It gives everyone time to calm down and think about what happened. If he went back to school the next day, who knows how the bully’s friends might have reacted.

Suddenly, there is intervention because the bully got hurt! Why the hell are there not teachers parolling the grounds ensuring childrens safety? I say MAKE SCHOOLS MORE ACCOUNTABLE. Laws need to be implemented where violence is involved, toss the age barrier bullshit out and sue the parents as well!! Parents need to start suing the hell out of schools for failing to provide due care!

The stupid bully shouldn’t of got all brave if he can’t hack what he dishes out. And yeah the bully may have got injured but so could Casey if he’s getting beat around like that on a daily basis.
