I am a big guy and I always stood up for the kids who got picked on. We need more people like me today who realize this school experience counts for absolutely nothing in real life. Living here in the Netherlands we can only judge on what we see, I feel sorry with both kids, I can imagine that Casey stood up for his own and fought back, he did the only thing that he could do and the fact that he walked away instead of going on makes him even more respectable….. but it is going too far to judge so hard on Gale, he is a little boy.
If we as adult people judge so hard over this kid then we are no better.
All over the world things happen with kids on school that is not correct and teachers, parents should use a video like this as a lesson. This one tells us more then thousand words, they are both victims.

Based upon the video, it would appear that Richard did get what he deserved from Casey.
When you assault and provoke someone you have to expect the possibility of retaliation.
On the flip side, I think people go a bit too far with their criticizing. He paid for his actions at the hands of Casey & now is continuing to pay via the world wide web.
He is, after all, a child and although that does not excuse his actions, the incessant onslaught of hate directed to him has gone on for too long.

Looking at the parents, and the coaching that was going on, it’s pretty damn obvious that one side of this story doesn’t add up.
To a certain degree our environment and upbringing play a part in the decisions we make, but the final responsibility for those decisions fall on the individual. Ritchard made a very very poor decision, and suffered the consequences. This is where the issue should end. Casey is the man, he stood up for himself, defended himself in an incredibly honorable manor. Little man got taught a valuable lesson, we can only hope he learnt from it, although judging by the interview… he didn’t.

They (schools) should use this video to educate others and set some time aside regularly to get student feedback so others that may want to bully know that it’s just not acceptable.
Everyone knows that Richard was lying in his interview and was coached by his father off camera to change his no response to yes, when asked if he was sorry.
I was bulled also at school and did a similar thing as you, but we didn’t have cameras and mobile phones back then to record stuff or the net, but it made me feel good never the less, later in life I ran into one of the bullies, funny enough at a job interview, i was the interviewer (he never got the job).
I also think you have saved a great number of lives, victims know there is hope, and you gave it to them.

Thats a good story to share. While you were bullied at school and the bully was the tough man of the school. You had the upper hand later in life where you were doing the job interviews and he was looking for a job.

I am totally for kids standing up for themselves and I even showed the video to my kids so they can see what kinds of kids are bully’s and that standing up for your self is the right thing to do. The sad part about this is, if his parents just told him to confess, say he’s sorry, he learned a lesson, he will do better in the future, then he could get sympathy. He’d get my sympathy. If we saw evidence that this was just a phase of his growing up that he has learned from and is heading towards becoming a better person, we would forgive him, still be glad he got smacked down, but forgive him and hope he goes on to becoming a better person.

Ritchard isn’t sorry he bullied Casey. He’s sorry that his “friends” were filming what they thought would be an awesome beatdown and ended up posting their buddy getting his ass kicked instead. Ritchard is sorry that literally thousands of people are now snickering at him and saying that he basically got what he deserved. But most of all, Ritchard is sorry that nobody likes him anymore because they all see what a mean little piece of work he is.
Ritchard’s getting a quick education in the hard facts of life. First and foremost is that anyone who thinks it’s “fun” to bully anyone, and even film that crap and put it on the web, is definitely not someone who will actually be a good buddy to you when the chips are down. I’d bet even money that his former “friends” have all been mighty scarce since this incident: no hanging out, no telling him it wasn’t his fault, etc. No, I’d wager they’re all trying to do what they do best: put a good spin on a really bad idea.
Second, he’s learning something that, sadly, too many criminals don’t learn until it is too late, sometimes: when you push people around, don’t be shocked one day if they push back, with a little extra thrown in for good measure. All humans have that flight-or-fight reaction hardwired in. Ritchard thought he could just do whatever he wanted indefinitely, and was forced to realize that no, that’s not actually a good idea.
The worst part may be that his own parents seem to think he’s a victim in all this. Well, now that his true colors have been shown… he is. He is a victim of popular opinion, and that opinion says that what he did is wrong in a lot of people’s eyes. His parents may demand anything they want, but the problem is that the internet sees the truth with its own eyes.
Actions have consequences. Ritchard thought bullying was just high school hijinks. Now, for the rest of his natural life, his name is attached to bullying. Think that won’t linger even after high school? How about when he tries to get a job and someone does a search on “Ritchard Gale”? How about when he goes to college to try and better his education, and perhaps is surrounded by some of the kind of people who themselves were bullied at school in youth? People may forget, but the internet never does, and every time his name comes up in conversation, someone will learn about his villainy all over again.
If anything, this should serve as a lesson to the retards on YouTube who think that it is cool to pose bullying or other stuff on the internet: be careful, or you might find yourself on the receiving end one day.

These are two kids that need to be educated and oriented correctly, and clearly this is not happening. These parents need to receive an intervention of a social service so they can educate their children to live in society. i take it you have never been bullied before and have someone start throwing punches at you. Way to go, Casey! I’m 48 years old and I still remember getting bullied like it was yesterday. You struck a blow for all of us. Its no use for me to go back there as the bullies are either dead or so decrepit that there would be no satisfaction. You did the right thing and there is no biblical basis for those who oppose what you did. God loves you and I think He gave you the strength to stand your ground.
The story so far:
1. Ritchie bullies Casey
2. Casey fights back, humiliating his bully
3. Ritchie gets the entire world’s hate on him, including his parents’
4. The parents lecture him, maybe even yell at him, being upset upon finding out their son is a bully
5. Ritchie’s self-esteem is now broken
6. Parents try to nurse him, correct him, set him straight. They see they have to salvage the situation, to save their son. They do so by making him appear on television, rehearsing a sob story to tell the world, in attempt to turn the world’s hatred into pity.
7. Being not much of an actor, Ritchie blew the act, just like any kid would have (how much acting talent can you expect from an average 12yo?) making the situation even worse for him.
Clearly his parents are inept, unwise or willfully ignorant to the realities that kids face. Or Ritchie is just a bad apple, beyond even the best possible parental influence. I find the latter hard to believe though. Casey is ok now, he’s all set. He’s got the world’s favor and support on his side. If Ritchie is to come out a decent person, he should be taken away from his inept caretakers (for a period of time), who are clearly mentally underequipped to handle the situation. What Ritchie needs to do now is to keep quiet and start focusing on school, as difficult as it may sound. He needs to aim for nothing less than a perfect track record from now on, through honest hard work. And he needs to be rewarded for his efforts, just as any kid should be rewarded for perfect scores. He needs to be taught to ask for help when he can’t figure something out, and at that point, he should be helped until he understands the problem, and the solution. I just hope to God that he can stay on the right path, that he has the strength to keep working for good scores, and not resort to underhanded methods to improve his grades. His only real option is to stay strong. Otherwise, he’ll break in a very profound way, and possibly do irreversible harm to someone else in the future. No one wants that.
What strikes me funny is that Ritchard’s friend who was taking the video posted Casey reversing the role with his own can of whoop-ass. What a great friend you have there, Ritchard, humiliating you in front of millions of people on the internet. LOL

You may feel a bit different if you got bullied by a gym junkie or a football player or mixed marshall artist or someone that was actually physically strong and could fight and was more of a threat than a scrawny weak school girl. Then you might now what its really like. It is a much greater threat on your life. Sorry to say but there is a massive difference between how hard “most” girls can hit compared to boys. Most school girls would have never picked up a barbell or done a pushup or chin up or any sort of strength training in their life. Most of girls bullying isnt even physical. If your bully did do strength training/lift weights and was physically abusive i apologize and verbal abuse is really bad too. All i am trying to say is that there is a massive difference “most” of the time and the threat and situation for boys is usually far worse. If girls start lifting weights and playing football and stuff or if your bully was one of those female weight lifters you might know what i mean, and may feel differently. Either way it is still equally as wrong for both boys and girls to get bullied. I was bullied in throughout elementary and junior high. I couldn’t put up with it anymore and did what my parents and counselors told me to do. Resolve the situation with discussion, suffice it to say it failed miserable. When I saw you fight back I was elated you had the courage to do what I never could. Thank you Casey for scoring one for the bullied and I hope you incident changes school policies around the world.
I have to say, after looking at countless reports I think I finally have a grasp on the whole situation. I do believe that Casey is the “hero” in this situation and that Richard is the “villain/bully.” The way cyberspace is handling this whole event is terrible though. Looking at the parents, and the coaching that was going on, it’s pretty damn obvious that one side of this story doesn’t add up.
To a certain degree our environment and upbringing play a part in the decisions we make, but the final responsibility for those decisions fall on the individual. Ritchard made a very very poor decision, and suffered the consequences. This is where the issue should end. Casey is the man, he stood up for himself, defended himself in an incredibly honorable manor. Little man got taught a valuable lesson, we can only hope he learnt from it, although judging by the interview… he didn’t.

Good work. I think you may have changed more in a few seconds than any Government or school council could in a life time.
They (schools) should use this video to educate others and set some time aside regularly to get student feedback so others that may want to bully know that it’s just not acceptable.
Everyone knows that Richard was lying in his interview and was coached by his father off camera to change his no response to yes, when asked if he was sorry.
I was bulled also at school and did a similar thing as you, but we didn’t have cameras and mobile phones back then to record stuff or the net, but it made me feel good never the less, later in life I ran into one of the bullies, funny enough at a job interview, i was the interviewer (he never got the job).
I also think you have saved a great number of lives, victims know there is hope, and you gave it to them.

But most of all, Ritchard is sorry that nobody likes him anymore because they all see what a mean little piece of work he is.
Ritchard’s getting a quick education in the hard facts of life. First and foremost is that anyone who thinks it’s “fun” to bully anyone, and even film that crap and put it on the web, is definitely not someone who will actually be a good buddy to you when the chips are down. I’d bet even money that his former “friends” have all been mighty scarce since this incident: no hanging out, no telling him it wasn’t his fault, etc. No, I’d wager they’re all trying to do what they do best: put a good spin on a really bad idea.
Second, he’s learning something that, sadly, too many criminals don’t learn until it is too late, sometimes: when you push people around, don’t be shocked one day if they push back, with a little extra thrown in for good measure. All humans have that flight-or-fight reaction hardwired in. Ritchard thought he could just do whatever he wanted indefinitely, and was forced to realize that no, that’s not actually a good idea.
The worst part may be that his own parents seem to think he’s a victim in all this. Well, now that his true colors have been shown… he is. He is a victim of popular opinion, and that opinion says that what he did is wrong in a lot of people’s eyes. His parents may demand anything they want, but the problem is that the internet sees the truth with its own eyes.
Actions have consequences. Ritchard thought bullying was just high school hijinks. Now, for the rest of his natural life, his name is attached to bullying. Think that won’t linger even after high school? How about when he tries to get a job and someone does a search on “Ritchard Gale”? How about when he goes to college to try and better his education, and perhaps is surrounded by some of the kind of people who themselves were bullied at school in youth? People may forget, but the internet never does, and every time his name comes up in conversation, someone will learn about his villainy all over again.

These are two kids that need to be educated and oriented correctly, and clearly this is not happening. These parents need to receive an intervention of a social service so they can educate their children to live in society. i take it you have never been bullied before and have someone start throwing punches at you. When someone raises their fists at you it is a threat on your life, one punch can kill, you dont know what its like to be put in that situation, luckily for you not many females have any idea what its like. richard deserves everything he gets. Obviously this kid is lying. Ritchard’s actions are not of a person retaliating. He’s obviously starting the fight. Even his answer to the last question of will you bully again shows this kid isn’t done. He probably won’t bully Casey anymore, but you can bet he’s looking for another target.
What makes this even sadder, is the dad telling him to lie. This kid needs to own up to what he did and realize it isn’t right. His dad is doing a poor job of letting him know he can’t be doing this and is helping this kid cover up his lies.

Way to go, Casey! I’m 48 years old and I still remember getting bullied like it was yesterday. You struck a blow for all of us. Its no use for me to go back there as the bullies are either dead or so decrepit that there would be no satisfaction. You did the right thing and there is no biblical basis for those who oppose what you did. God loves you and I think He gave you the strength to stand your ground.
The story so far:
1. Ritchie bullies Casey
2. Casey fights back, humiliating his bully
3. Ritchie gets the entire world’s hate on him, including his parents’
4. The parents lecture him, maybe even yell at him, being upset upon finding out their son is a bully
5. Ritchie’s self-esteem is now broken
6. Parents try to nurse him, correct him, set him straight. They see they have to salvage the situation, to save their son. They do so by making him appear on television, rehearsing a sob story to tell the world, in attempt to turn the world’s hatred into pity.
7. Being not much of an actor, Ritchie blew the act, just like any kid would have (how much acting talent can you expect from an average 12yo?) making the situation even worse for him.
Clearly his parents are inept, unwise or willfully ignorant to the realities that kids face. Or Ritchie is just a bad apple, beyond even the best possible parental influence. I find the latter hard to believe though. Casey is ok now, he’s all set. He’s got the world’s favor and support on his side. If Ritchie is to come out a decent person, he should be taken away from his inept caretakers (for a period of time), who are clearly mentally underequipped to handle the situation. What Ritchie needs to do now is to keep quiet and start focusing on school, as difficult as it may sound. He needs to aim for nothing less than a perfect track record from now on, through honest hard work. And he needs to be rewarded for his efforts, just as any kid should be rewarded for perfect scores. He needs to be taught to ask for help when he can’t figure something out, and at that point, he should be helped until he understands the problem, and the solution. I just hope to God that he can stay on the right path, that he has the strength to keep working for good scores, and not resort to underhanded methods to improve his grades. His only real option is to stay strong. Otherwise, he’ll break in a very profound way, and possibly do irreversible harm to someone else in the future. No one wants that.
All that, I believe, is called moving on.
What strikes me funny is that Ritchard’s friend who was taking the video posted Casey reversing the role with his own can of whoop-ass. What a great friend you have there, Ritchard, humiliating you in front of millions of people on the internet. LOL
He clearly deserved it. But let’s all remember that he’s just a kid, and kids make mistakes. Yes, mistakes that hurt other people but he doesn’t deserve peoples comments saying that he should burn in hell. Come on, that is too much. He’s still just a 12 yr old boy.
And I used to be bullied so I completely sympathize with Casey, but enough already. He got what he deserved by Casey and he won’t do anything to him again. Everyone else should shut up.
You may feel a bit different if you got bullied by a gym junkie or a football player or mixed marshall artist or someone that was actually physically strong and could fight and was more of a threat than a scrawny weak school girl. Then you might now what its really like. It is a much greater threat on your life. Sorry to say but there is a massive difference between how hard “most” girls can hit compared to boys. Most school girls would have never picked up a barbell or done a pushup or chin up or any sort of strength training in their life. Most of girls bullying isnt even physical. If your bully did do strength training/lift weights and was physically abusive i apologize and verbal abuse is really bad too. All i am trying to say is that there is a massive difference “most” of the time and the threat and situation for boys is usually far worse. If girls start lifting weights and playing football and stuff or if your bully was one of those female weight lifters you might know what i mean, and may feel differently. Either way it is still equally as wrong for both boys and girls to get bullied. Sorry i really dont wont to sound sexist in any way, and nothing against gym users, football players, marshall artist, i do all of that and other stuff as part of my own training for self defence.

Casey congratulations. Even though I say this do not use this anger to solve all of your problems. I did that after being bullied for years. I ended up fighting everyday. The other boys would challenge me to see if they could become the one that could beat me.
I got the most satisfaction when I started to walk away and ignore them. Only then did the challengers and the bullying stop. I then used the unspent energy to become Entrepreneur Of The Year in my business.

I was bullied in throughout elementary and junior high. I couldn’t put up with it anymore and did what my parents and counselors told me to do. Resolve the situation with discussion, suffice it to say it failed miserable. When I saw you fight back I was elated you had the courage to do what I never could. I have to say, after looking at countless reports I think I finally have a grasp on the whole situation. I do believe that Casey is the “hero” in this situation and that Richard is the “villain/bully.” The way cyberspace is handling this whole event is terrible though. Yes, Casey should receive praise because of his courage, but leave Richard alone. He was slammed to the ground by an adrenaline filled teen. He already “received what he deserved.” Comments like “I hope you die” or “too bad you’re not a paraplegic now” are unnecessary. One child should not be the recipient of every distraught, bullied person’s hateful comments. That is just wrong. I am severely against bullying myself, but I urge all of you with hateful comments to look in the mirror, who is the bully now?

I believe that the hate to this Richard boy is not personal at all. He represents generations of bullies who have humiliated and traumatised kids all over the world. That’s why people are so upset. I was a bullying victim myself and was glad to see Casey triumph over Richard. That’s why he’s a hero. And that’s why Richard’s being so heavily criticised. Does he deserve all of it? Probably not, but he’s a symbol now and will have to learn how to deal with it.
